SNCF strike of November 5: the appeal, the demands and the traffic

Four railway federations have signed a joint appeal. As of October 21, this document confirms an announced mobilization; it does not say which trains will run on November 5.

CGT Cheminots, UNSA-Ferroviaire, SUD-Rail and CFDT Cheminots are calling for a strike. No transportation plan specific to November 5 was obtained for this file.

The essentials

The press release of October 15 distinguishes a rally on wages in Saint-Denis on November 3 and a day of strike on the 5th. Reading these two stages separately avoids attributing to the first the consequences announced for the second.[1]

The rail component is part of a broader social mobilization. The national file deals with the signatories and inter-professional demands; This page focuses on railway workers and checking traffic information.[3]

Who is calling and for what demands?

CGT Cheminots, UNSA-Ferroviaire, SUD-Rail and CFDT Cheminots jointly sign the document. They are demanding general salary increases, an increase in bonuses, an overhaul of the residence allowance and a thirteenth month. Their call of the 5th also concerns jobs and social and working conditions.[1]

The text criticizes the opening to competition and the financing of the network. These are union positions: the document attests neither to management's response, nor to an agreement, nor to the number of employees who will participate.[1]

Appeal, notice and transportation plan: three different documents

An appeal explains who wants to mobilize and why. The text consulted is a union press release; we have not obtained the full document specifying the advance notice coverage times for that day. We therefore do not give it a start at 7 p.m. the day before or an end the next day without any other document.[1]

The transport plan answers another question: what services does the operator plan to provide? A strike announcement does not fill this list. The useful information for a trip is that of its train, its timetable and its date, then that of each connection.[2]

How to check your train

SNCF Connect recommends consulting the traffic information and searching for the train number on the date of travel before going to the station. An alert on a service is not enough to conclude for all lines. A result consulted several days before departure must be rechecked when the operator updates its program.[2]

For TER, consult the section for the region concerned; for Transilien and the RERs operated by SNCF, use the line bulletin. Check separately for a journey on the metro or on the RATP network. The rail appeal does not constitute an announcement of closure of this network.[2]

When will the forecasts be available?

The SNCF Connect general help indicates information from 5 p.m. the day before for non-connecting TER trains and OUIGO trains that are running. This benchmark does not constitute a promise of a single bulletin for all networks, nor a publication already acquired for November 5. We will add dated announcements from operators here when they become available.[2]

The possibilities for exchange or refund depend on the train, the ticket and the published measures. Consult your reservation file and the conditions of your carrier before making any decision. No commercial arrangements specific to November 5 are announced on this page.[2]
